I have often heard cigarettes referred to as coffin nails. Cigarettes kill but sometimes they don*t. Sins are the worst coffin nails. Every sin, large or small, is a spiritual coffin nail. Sins destroy unbelievers spiritually and eternally. I have great sorrow as I see many people destroying themselves by their sin. More people destroy themselves than ask the Lord to save them. Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The sin of rejecting Jesus is the eternal and irrevocable coffin nail. When we receive Jesus we receive the only nail-puller that can remove the coffin nails of sin. For those who receive Jesus their coffin nails are removed. Blessedly, our coffin nails weren*t strong enough to hold the sinless Son of God in the tomb. We might call the sins of believers temporary coffin nails. We can have them removed easily. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.Sadly, many believers don*t confess and forsake their sin. They can become just as miserable as unbelievers or more so. Dear ones, let*s ask Jesus to get rid of ALL of our coffin nails now and as often as we hammer another one in. |
